11月11日晚间，FTX官方发布公告称，FTX US、Alameda Research Ltd和大约130家其他附属公司（合称“FTX集团”）已根据《美国破产法》第二章在特拉华州地区开始自愿程序，以启动一个有序的程序，为所有全球利益相关者的利益审查和货币化资产。John Ray已被任命为FTX集团的首席执行官。Sam Bankman Fried已辞去首席执行官一职，并将继续协助过渡。据悉，FTX 的新任首席执行官 John J. Ray, III，是当时办理安然公司清算时的芝加哥律师。安然丑闻案曝光于2001年10月，既是美国历史上最大破产案，也是最大的审计失败事件。
据了解，第十一章主要适用大型企业，它的目的是制定重组计划，可以使得大型企业免于解体，并在未来逐步偿还债权人。有通俗的解释称，这种情况下可以理解为债务人躺在手术台上对债权人说，医生我觉得我还可以再抢救一下，然后出具自救方案，即重组方案，也会进一步引入投资人，让公司东山再起获得盘活资产取得现金流的机会。在重组过程中，担保债权人是丧失优先受偿权的，其债权的担保抵押物都暂时不能实现抵押权，优先满足企业的生产经营需要。这也是债权人为了获得更完全的债务清偿所做出的让步。
据向法院提交的法庭文件，Alameda Research的资产和负债估值都在100亿至500亿美元之间，债权人超过10万人，这一负债的估值规模超出所有人的预料。
随后，SBF发推文称，今天在美国提交了 FTX、FTX US 和 Alameda 的破产法第 11 章诉讼程序。这并不一定意味着这些公司或它们主要为客户提供价值和资金的能力的终结，并相信新的CEO Ray有能力做的最好。我将努力尽快明确用户恢复方面的情况。我很快就会写一篇更完整的关于这部剧的文章。
法院文件显示共有134家公司将参与破产重组，包括其在香港、日本、欧洲等全球多地的子公司，以下子公司不包括在第二章诉讼中：Ledgerx LLC、FTXDigital Markets有限公司FIX Australia Pty Ltd和FIX Express Pay Ltd。
